Breaking the News

We put off telling Breah about the baby for awhile because, well first of all, 9 months is a long time for a little girl to wait, and second, we didn't want her out blabbing about it to everyone she talked to before we were ready to go public (trust me, she talks a lot, this is a real concern at our house).  And after seeing her with our little friend "Coofer" we thought she would be really excited about it.  She adores Cooper and is always wanting to babysit him, and has recently been warming up to a few other babies in the ward.  If you knew Breah pre-Tayven, that's progress.  She used to be terrified of babies.  So a couple weeks ago I asked her, "how would you like it if we had a little baby like Cooper at our house?"  Well, she was not thrilled, she thought that Tayven was enough of a baby and we don't need any more.  So I let it go for a couple days.  Then, Halloween night one of the stories she picked was Little Critter's "The New Baby."  So after reading it, Brandon asked her what she thought of having a new baby.  Her exact response was, "No, I don't think so.  We have enough kids."  So we tried to explain to her how we thought it would be fun to have more brothers and sisters, like Mom, I have 2 of each.  Well, no, 2 is enough.  We have her and Tayven and that's all we need.  The next day, Cooper's mom asked her, "Don't you want a little baby like Cooper in your family?"  Breah:  "No, then it would get all the attention!"  Yes, she really said that...and now we see the real reason behind her apprehensiveness!  Poor girl!  Well, tonight we finally broke the news to her.  Honestly I'm surprised she hasn't clued in.  It's not like it's been a big secret around here lately, and she picks up on EVERYTHING else.  We decided to show her the ultrasound video.  It did not go well at first.  It reminded me a lot of the time my parents gave us the choice between a baby and a puppy--we chose puppy, haha!  But she eventually warmed up to the idea and is now quite excited.  In fact, she went to bed trying out new names in her books, and came out just a few minutes ago to declare that the baby's name should be "Wifwash."  It's perfect, right?  Works for a brother or a sister!  Now I just hope that the next 6 months aren't too much to wait!

  1. Hahaha!! I love it! (hopefully we won't need to steal Wifwash from you though-as we are days away from having our baby and still don't have a name) Love you guys! P.S. Graci and Cielo are saving their money to go to the zoo on an airplane with Breah...

  2. Wifwash, hahahaha! Hilarious. Glad she is warming up. It's no fun to share attention with a baby. They're too much competition.
