Christmas Carols at our house

 Breah has been converted to Christmas music.  Normally we listen to preschool songs all day, so it's a nice change.  Breah loves our CD's almost as much as I do.  Her favorite is Faith Hill's Santa Claus is Coming to Town, or as we have been calling it since last year, "Santa Pause It."  Last year she would sing it "Santa paus is coming to Grandma's house. . . He sees you when your sleeping IN MY NEW BED (at the top of her lungs) he knows when your awake. . ."  This year she gets most of it right, but when we talk about Santa coming, she is adamant that he's only coming to her church, not her house, because she doesn't like him.  So luckily Santa pulled through and came back to our ward party again this year.   She was so excited to see him and was sorely disapointed when I wouldn't stand in the mile long line at the Dickens festival the night before,  but of course wanted nothing to do with him when we got there.  She did sit on his lap, and she was brave and didn't cry, but she didn't have the courage to tell him what she wanted.  But I think Santa should have a pretty good idea.  He should be getting his letter soon, and she's telling everyone else that all she wants is "a Tinkerbell light and a comb and brush and blow dryer fing so I can fix my hair beeeeeeautiful in the morning like mom"

Anywho, I love that she is so wrapped up in the holiday cheer.  She keeps the trees lit and scolds Tayven when he gets too close (he pulls the little ones down on a regular basis).  We read Christmas books all throughout the day and if the music isn't on, then Breah is singing.  I love that she sings her little heart out, even though she has no idea when they are saying and doesn't even care if it makes any sense (usually she has to analyse every song or book: "why does sammy want to swim to the store like a fish?"  "Put your mother in a red box!?  That's silly!") Here are a few of my favorite lines that stand out in my mind at the moment

*"keep Christmas with you, all through the year"  over and over and over again.  This one didn't turn up til after Christmas and we just (jan 8th) figured out that it comes from her Sesame Street Christmas Carol movie.

And in case your wondering, I did finally break down and buy a tree.  It's tall, and it's prelit, and it's a dream to put up!  It's not the tree I was dreaming of, but it's pretty and it fits in my house better than the other one would have.  It must be quite a bit thinner than my old one because I still have a ton of ornaments left over.  So now we can officially get the holidays started!

Here's my happy little elf at the Dickens Festival, she was pretty worn out apparently...or maybe I kept her out too late.   It was 7:30!  She woke up in just in time to go on a "two horse and sleigh" ride to our car.  Her friend Grace was loving it, but Breah wasn't quite sure what to think til it was over, then she thought it was pretty cool!
